Andrew Love was born in New York, and moved to California in the early 1980s to study law at the University of San Francisco School of Law. In 1985, he became a member of the California bar. Since 1989, he has worked exclusively on death penalty cases, representing men and women who have been sentenced to death in California. He has argued cases in the California Supreme Court and in the United States federal courts. He was on the Board of Directors of Death Penalty Focus from 1998-2010. For many years he has been the co-chair of the planning committee for the annual Capital Case Defense Seminar, the largest conference of death penalty defense lawyers, investigators, and experts in the United States, at which he also often presents on a variety of death penalty issues. He writes the blog Fair and Unbalanced which focuses on politics, social justice and capital punishment, but also covers music, baseball and other pillars of American culture.
