CONOR GEARTY is director of the centre for the study of human rights and professor of human rights law at LSE. He is the author of many books and articles on civil liberties, human rights and terrorism, most recently Civil Liberties (2007) and Essays on Human Rights and Terrorism (2008). He is also a barrister and wasa founding member of Matrix Chambers, from where he continues to practice law.
