Orange County is the 6th most populous county in the United States and also is the smallest county area-wise in Southern California. Among the various cosmetic procedures performed in the city, the two most popular procedures are breast augmentation and liposuction. Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure where implants are used to make the breasts fuller and restore the breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy. The implants used in the procedure may be

1. Saline Implants. These are shells containing silicone elastomer. At the time of surgery, the implants are filled with sterile saline solution after placing them. In case the implants rupture, the body absorbs the saline. 2. Silicone Implants. These implants are being used ever since breast augmentation was started. They are made up of both organic and inorganic polymers. The silicone implants have been improved to newer forms which don’t leak in case of rupture as they used to be earlier.

Another decision to be made before undergoing breast augmentation Orange County is to how the implants are to be placed. The current techniques involve

• Subglandular Placement. Here, the implants are placed over top of the muscle and behind the breast tissue. • Submuscular Placement. Here, the implants are placed behind the pectoralis muscle. These muscles are thick, fan-shaped and are situated under the breast. • Dual Plane Placement. This technique uses both Subglandular and Submuscular techniques. The muscle covers the upper two-thirds of the implant while the lower third is covered by breast tissue.

On the other hand, liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes fat deposits from underneath the skin using cannula and powerful vacuum. It is usually done using general anesthesia, heavy IV sedation or local anesthesia. In some people, the body may have disproportionate contours because of localized fat deposits. More often than not, it may be a family trait and not lack of weight control or fitness. However, some people think of it as a treatment of obesity and try to use it as a substitute for regular exercise and good eating habits.

The patient who is to undergo liposuction Orange County may be asked to follow some precautionary measures. They may be asked to stop smoking as it impairs the healing process. Besides, medications such as Aspirin, NSAIDs and vitamins that increase the risk of bleeding are also stopped. The after surgery recovery may vary depending on an individual. However, the first 48 hours after the surgery, the patient may experience swelling and bruising. The bruising usually takes 7-10 days to disappear. A week after the stitches may be removed. The patient may further be asked to wait for at least 10 days before resuming normal activities.
